The Main Bar and Tap Room Lounge
With such a rich history dating back to the 16th century the pub naturally offers a quintessentially traditional English feel. The Main Bar area is immediately through the entrance and within it you can dine as well as drink, the seating comprises of locally made rustic butchers blocks and stools as well as large sherry brandy barrels to stand and drink around, giving the area a contemporary, yet traditional feel. This Main Bar area is more often than not the meeting place for most visitors and usually the hub of activity for our varied range of customers.
You will always find 3 Quality real cask ales to choose from including local South West brewers as well as national ales. The lager selection is equally good with 3 established quality products on tap, and not forgetting our selection of Ciders, with 3-4 local farmhouse ciders available as well as the main stream draught ciders.
A good variety of world wines can be found available both White and Red which should certainly allow you to find a favourite, whilst we also offer your expected range of Spirits, you must look at our “Gin O’ Clock” board offering a wide variety of speciality gins with accompanying mixers.
Our Tap Room Lounge is located at the front of the building and is often described as being a cosy relaxed home feel within a pub, with large comfy sofas and even comfier arm chairs plus window benches and high rustic blocks and stools there is something for everyone. We even boast our own “Cosy Book Corner” a cheeky little alcove of seating surrounded by shelves of books and assorted board games, it has even got its own unofficial book share club that is growing rapidly.
If it’s a drink and a bite to eat whilst watching a bit of sport then you really will like this room, with a dart board located against the far wall and arrows available from the bar, you can match play anyone. Alternatively, you can just sit back or on the edge of your seat with all the live action on Sky Sports and BT Sports, this is shown on our unobtrusive flat screen tv and shows all varieties of global sport.
